El Dorado Hills
El Dorado Hills is not a city but a planned community, begun in the early 1960s by developer Allan Lindsey with Victor Gruen as master planner. The ground has an older story: the Mormon Tavern on the Clarksville road, built in 1849, became a Pony Express remount station, and on April 4, 1860, the Pony Express's first day out of Sacramento, rider Sam Hamilton changed horses there.
