A January team party: ideas for the new year
December is crowded. Calendars are full, venues are booked and half the team is away for the holidays. A party in January, after the rush, can be easier to plan and better attended.

Why January works
A January party is a fresh start rather than an end-of-year obligation: a thank-you for the last year and a kickoff for the next. It also sits outside the holiday season, so a winter table rather than a Christmas one suits it, and the same setting works for a team of twelve or a company of two hundred.
A winter table, not a holiday one
Swap red and green for warm neutrals. A Walnut Charger, $4, under a White Mercer Dinner Plate, $1.50, with a Velvet Taupe Napkin, $1.50, or a Velvet Cream Napkin, $1.75, on a Panama White Table Linen, $35.
Candlelight carries the winter evening. A row of Glass Candle Holders down the table does more than florals in January.
Dinner or kickoff reception
A seated dinner suits a smaller team and a longer evening of thanks. A kickoff reception with a few short speeches suits a larger company: cocktail tables at $15 and a coupe each for the toast. For the trade-offs, see cocktail party or seated dinner.
The corporate rate carries over
Corporate, nonprofit and office events get 20% off the first order and 10% off every order after that, so a team that rents for a December party has the repeat rate in January. There is no minimum order. Before you book, run through the venue checklist, then send us your list.
