Holiday linen colors: velvet napkins and tablecloths
Linens are the cheapest way to change how a table feels. A napkin is one of the smallest pieces on it and one of the first things a guest touches, and the cloth sets the color of everything else.

Velvet napkins, color by color
Velvet napkins read richer in candlelight than a flat weave, which is why they suit the season. Most of ours are $1.75: Cherry Burgundy, Olive Green, Dusty Blue, Velvet Cream, Blush and Velvet Rose Pink. The Velvet Navy Blue Napkin and Velvet Burnt Orange Napkin are $2.50.
| Napkin | Price | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Cherry Burgundy Velvet Napkin | $1.75 | Green plates, gold flatware, a classic Christmas |
| Olive Green Velvet Napkin | $1.75 | Patterned or blush plates, candlelight |
| Dusty Blue Velvet Napkin | $1.75 | Ivory plates, silver, a winter or Hanukkah table |
| Velvet Navy Blue Napkin | $2.50 | White plates and silver, New Year's Eve |
| Velvet Cream Napkin | $1.75 | Any plate; the quiet choice |
Stripes and solids for the cloth
A patterned cloth does the decorating for you. The Morgan Stripe Evergreen Linen, $38, carries a holiday table on its own. A solid cloth lets the plates and napkins lead: the White Poli Table Linen and Black Poli Table Linen are $18 each, and the Panama White Table Linen is $35.
One color leads, one supports
Pick one color to lead, usually the napkin, and let the cloth support it. Burgundy napkins on an evergreen stripe, olive napkins on white, navy napkins on black. Two strong colors fighting on the same table read as busy rather than festive.
Our six Christmas bundles show the pairings set out on a table, and any napkin in a bundle can be swapped for another color.
Linens come back as they are
There is no washing on your side: rented linens come back to us as they are. Every holiday linen is together in The Holiday Table, and the sizes are explained in choosing a tablecloth size.
